Aerial Urban Landscapes
Aerial Urban Landscapes evolves from my interest in the distortion of shapes as seen from a height, such as the perspective from roofs of city buildings. I explore this theme by deconstructing my own original drawings, paintings, and prints and purposely obscuring previous images. The newly formed pieces are then layered with photos, magazine images, as well as found man-made and natural objects. I further accentuate the illusion of distorted vistas by incorporating handwritten, typed and stencilled text, and by drawing with charcoal, chalk, oil pastels, and India ink.
